Cinnamon Vanilla Steamer

I am a coffee lover myself, but not everybody is.  When it’s cold a nd grey outside, sometimes you just want a warm and comforting drink to sip on.  My cinnamon vanilla steamer is a delicious, low carb, and healthy way to start your day or to unwind after a long one!  There are lots of variations you can do to change up the recipe.  Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Cinnamon Vanilla Steamer

Prep time:  1 min Cook time:  1 min Total time:  2 mins Serves: 1

This recipe is a great little treat when you want something warm and slightly sweet. It's got healthy fats and a nice little dose of protein too making this a great option for breakfast on the go or an evening beverage by the fire (think hot vanilla instead of hot chocolate!)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or other non-dairy, non soy milk. This is my favorite!)

  • ½ scoop vanilla protein powder (This is what I use, and it is DELISH!)

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 T heavy whipping cream (or you can ¼ cup full fat coconut milk)

Instructions:

  1. Pour the almond milk into a mug and heat in the microwave until hot (1-2min. Don't burn yourself!)

  2. Add warm almond milk, protein, cinnamon, vanilla, and cream to a small blender or bullet. (You can also use an immersion blender if you've got it.)

  3. Blend all ingredients for a minute or so until combined and frothy.

  4. Pour into your favorite mug and top with a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Notes:

Other variations to this recipe would be to use different flavor extracts (I LOVE almond extract, and maple is another great one!) You can also use different spices including pumpkin pie spice, apple pie spice, nutmeg, etc. If you are more of a chocolate fan, add a tablespoon of cocoa powder to this, or switch out the vanilla protein powder for chocolate!
